Just Some Facts
The worst season record in the modern era of MLB Baseball is 36 wins and 117 losses by the Philidelphia Athletics in 1916. They won 30.77% of their games that year. The worst 82 game season record in NBA Basketball history is 9 wins and 73 losses by the Philidelphia 76ers in 1973. They won 12.33% of their games that year. The worst season record in the NHL Hockey is 8 wins, 67 losses, and 5 ties. The won 11.94% of the games that ended with wins. There were two different NFL Football teams that were 0 wins and 16 losses. That is 0% of games played won. The teams with the worst seasons of all time in the many soccer leagues average win percentages of around 15% of the games they played during their seasons.
What we can see from the above paragraph with regard to sports wagering is that: You are extremely likely to win eventually in any sport you wager upon. The caveat is that you will risk a lot of your money to achieve this. Also, as the wager amounts go up, the sportsbooks can decline your wager at any time they wish. There are ways to get around anything the sportsbooks do. You simply must be creative and do your research.
Odds Of Winning
Whenever you wager on anything; there will be odds that apply to how much you win from the house for a certain amount of money you wager. These odds mirror your likelihood of success. When you see a "+" in front of odds, this means that team is an underdog (not favored to win the game). When you see a "-" in front of odds, this means that team is a favorite (favored to win the game). If you wager on an overwhelming favorite to win the game, you might see odds like -400. This means that you need to wager $400 of your money to win $100 of the house's money. If you see +400, you only need to wager $25 of your money to win that same $100 of the house's money. This is called leverage. You can see that you want to be wagering where you are getting leverage rather than giving leverage.
Yes, the prohibitive favorites win way more games than they lose, but the leverage against your money all the time when you only wager on favorites makes it extremely difficult to make profit. The overwhelming underdogs get leverage odds enough to where you can use streak based wagering and recovering your losses along with gains. This is what we are here to help you do.
What The Numbers Mean
The numbers that you will see in sports wagering are confusing at first. Over time, you will easily understand what they mean and be able to associate values to these numbers. Common odds are based upon a value of 100. People usually explain it by that 100 being in dollars because that is what most of us understand. We will explain it the way it actually is. The real measurement for odds is percentage! The odds that you see for a contest are what the house risks when you wager $100. You DO NOT need to wager $100! The odds are actually a percentage of 100.
When you see a "+" before odds; this means that the house is matching your 100 and adding more to it. When you see a "-" before odds; this means that the house is only matching a portion of your 100. For the sake of simplicity, we will use odds of 200 for our examples.
Wagering on an Underdog
Say that you see a team that is a +200 underdog. This means that the house is risking 200% (2:1 ratio) of what you are risking. If you wagered $100 and win; you get your $100 back and $200 of the house's money for a total payout of $300! The house risked two times what you did.
Wagering on an Favorite
Say that you see a team that is a -200 favorite. This means you are risking 200% (2:1 ratio) of what the house is risking. If you wagered $100 and win; you get your $100 back and $50 of the house's money for a total payout of $150! The house risked half of what you did.
Propaganda
If you live in a state where sports wagering is legal (don't worry, it will be legal in all states soon enough); no doubt you have seen more than 7431 commercials about sports wagering websites or apps. They always talk about "Parlays". You get great leverage betting parlays, but overall you are guaranteed to lose lots of money wagering on parlays. The MoneyLine wager is the most likely way you have to win. You should wager 95% of your wager budget on MoneyLine wagers and the other 5% on exotic (lottery tickets) like parlays. Do not listen the "gurus", ex pro athletes, sharks, or any other individual who has "insider information"! You can do just fine by looking at a sports website or simply reading the sports page in your local newspaper (if that even exists anymore).
Become A Shark
A very useful statistic to use is win or loss streaks. This is what we strongly recommend at WyzeBet. If you see a team that is on a 3 game winning or losing streak; you probably want to start wagering against that streak! Google "longest winning streaks" or "longest losing streaks" for examples of how long these streaks last. The never last very long. The longer they are; the greater the chances of them ending. Math is a wonderful thing when you can use it. Las Vegas has been using math for a very long time to build their entire city. Why don't you use math to build yours?
Guest Example Wagers
We have created some mock wagers for you to see our service in action. The wagers you see are actual odds from the 2022 MLB season. The wagers are ones that one could easily find themselves making in accordance with becoming a shark. You want to be wagering on good teams that are getting good odds or you want to wager against a streak. Notice that the first few wagers were successful and that we went back to our base bet of $5.00 after wins. You can choose any base amount. The Cubs are an average team getting great odds from an average team. The Mariners are a good team and the odds they were getting on April 8th and 9th were good. We kept going to the well with the Mariners because they are a good team that started to go on a losing streak. Had to stay with that until they won.
After the Mariners won, there were two teams with streaks of three games actually playing each other! Reds were playing a series against the Dodgers. You can bet against a winning or losing streak. It is rare for the teams to actually be playing each other though. It was a perfect storm because the Reds have talent. The Reds were getting massive odds too, so we were able to get massive leverage.
